About Us

3rd Boxmoor is a Beaver, Cub and Scout group that offers everyday adventure and activity to almost 70 young people across Hemel Hempstead. The group is an active group and has successfully grown it’s membership over the last 6 years

Our base is the Scout Hut at Woodland Close, Boxmoor (just off Gravel Hill Terrace), Hemel Hempstead.  Beavers meet on a Monday evening (6.00pm – 7.15pm); Cubs meet on a Thursday evening (6.30pm – 8.00pm); and Scouts meet on a Friday evening (7.30pm – 9.30pm).  All our meetings are held during the school terms and not on Bank Holidays, except for pre-arranged activities.

Purpose

3rd Boxmoor Scouts has a clear purpose in line with that of the UK Scout Association:

To help young people achieve their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as Members of their local, national and international communities.

Programme

Our method for giving young people the opportunity to learn by doing is called the Programme. The Programme is a continuous progression of training, activities and awards that covers everything that young people do in Scouting from the age of 6 upwards.

Our Commitment

Scouting is open to all young people of every faith and background. There are also plenty of opportunities for adults to become involved as Leaders, Assistants or Administrators.

Management

The group is a registered charity and has an active and enthusiast Executive Comittee who as trustees manage the maintainance of the group’s assets, raise funds and administer the groups’s finances with support from the leader team.

Fundraising

Throughout the year, the Group fundraises to support maintainance and replacement of equipment and to subsidise our active programme. We are always looking for new opportunities to fundraise.

Volunteers

3rd Boxmoor is a volunteer organisation and all leaders, executive members and supporters are volunteers within the group. We rely heavily on support from parents of members of the group to help in various ways, from transporting scouts to an activity or to becoming a trustee of the charity.
